The Civil Rights and Force Investigations Division is a unit within the Metropolitan Police Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility. Reflecting the high priority the MPDC places on civil rights and officer accountability, the Division has critical responsibilities in the following areas: investigating and reviewing police use of force (both deadly and less-than-lethal), monitoring compliance with the MPDC’s Memorandum of Agreement with the US Justice Department on use-of-force issues, equal employment opportunity, and diversity management.
